Card Making

Bloomin’ Hearts

The new Bloomin’ Hearts thinlit is to die for. I am besotted by the intricate floral pattern it creates, simply from rolling it through my Big Shot.

The above card was inspired by colours I had seen in a well know paper shop, which always has funky cards. In the shop they used neon pink and craft, so I translated this into SU colours and choose Melon Mambo and Crumb Cake (my fave). I love how the crumb looks against the melon background, it’s such a stark contrast, and really highlights the floral detail that the die creates.

I procrastinated about whether to detail flowers on the heart using the co-ordinating stamps, or whether to cut some using the small flower dies. In the end I decided to keep it simple, and let the heart take all the glory.

As I was having a cuppa, still procrastinating over the card,  I noticed this week’s #globaldesignproject was to create a card using Rose Red, Crumb Cake & Garden Green.  I decided to add a cut out flower from the new Birthday Bouquest DSP to add a splash of green, and enter the comp.  I did recreate the card using Rose Red background, but it didn’t look as good, so I stuck with my original Melon Mambo.

There are some supremely talented crafters out there, so I am not expecting to win, but it is nice to be able to take part in a global community, and see all the fantastic creations out there.

Here are all the supplies I used, which you can purchase via my shop:
