Last month a lovely lady asked me to create a bespoke card for her niece’s special birthday. I was flattered that she had asked me, and thrilled I could create a unique card for this special day.
I had been inspired by one of Bij Magriets amazing cards using Large Numbers framelits; I loved the monochrome and sparkly gold effect. I knew I had the perfect paper for this backdrop in the new Pick A Pattern DSP.From here I decided to make it super special and unique by creating a consatina effect card, personalised with the recipients name. I followed one of a Amanda Bates fancy fold tutorials, it was my first time attempting this type of tricky card, and even though it was very time consuming, it was so worth it.
I then created a bespoke envelope that meant the card would come out portrait, rather than landscape. I punched a semi circle at the top, added a gold binder clip to the card (to hold it all together as it comes out), decorated it with sparkly star, some gold sequin trim and embossed a sentiment & cupcake icon from the Window Shopping stamp set. I also stamped a small square with Happy Birthday from the same stamp set, and applied double sided tape so the sender could write their message then stick on the back of the card.
I made a simpler consatina version for Father’s Day from the boys. Again I used Large Letters framelits, Pick a Pattern DSP and the co ordinating Pieces & Patterns stamp set for the sentiment, embossed in white. This card is super simple to make, and looks really effective and personal. The size of it folded up is perfect for a Memories & More pocket, so I can scrapbook it together with photos of the day. I’m sure my partner will appreciate looking back on this when the baby bears are older.
