Card Making · Paper Craft Project

Nature’s Poem

On Saturday I held a Garden Party to launch the new Stampin’ Up 2018-2019 catalogue.  I used the gorgeous Nature’s Poem DSP and matching cardstock to create some simple paper projects to make on the day.

I adore the new colours Petal Pink & Grapefruit Grove , and I’m so pleased Mint Macaron is back in the game, so these papers were a must have for me.

The first project we made was a sweet little gift box filled with bath salts and a scented candle, inspired by Sylwia over at Stempel Einfach

All you need is a Clear Tiny Treat box, a slither of DSP (2″x 10″), card stock for the daisy (I used Petal Pink which comes as part of the Nature’s Poem Cardstock Pack), the Daisy Punch, Gold Faceted Gems and Petals & More Thinlets Dies for the leaves underneath (although these aren’t essential).

We scored the strip of DSP at 2″ 1/16th (slightly over 2″), as the treat boxes measure 2″ so you need a little extra so it wraps around the box. Glue the paper once it’s wrapped around, and create a sleeve, so it can be taken off (i.e. don’t glue it to the treat box).

Then simply punch out 3 daisies, use a bone folder (or a pencil even) to curl them slightly upwards.  Layer them together and glue.  Finish with a gold faceted gem, and some white leaves (I cut one long leaf from Petals & More and simply cut up and glued under the flower).

The next project was simple paper bunting.  This is SO easy! All you need is paper, twine, a trimmer (or scissors), hole punch and pen/pencil.

A simple hand drawn template to show my attendees where to mark and cut.

As you can see in the image above, you get 10 penants from one DSP sheet.  I have drawn a simple diagram of  where you need to mark and cut. It’s basically 4″ increments along the top and bottom, and then in the middle start at 2″ and then 4″ increments along again.

Once you have cut out all the penants, you simply punch holes with a hole punch and then thread twine through.  My lovely client Faye made the bunting below, using two of the gorgeous green patterns from Nature’s Poem papers.

Lastly, I wanted to make some simple stamped cards using the new Varied Vases Bundle and the new Whisper White Memories & More Cards & Envelopes.  These new notelet cards have been designed to work with the Memories & More cards, making it even easier to create handcrafted greetings cards.  I used them plain, and stamped a simple flower using the stamp set, and punched a vase using the coordinating punch.
